TAKE ON TITANIUM WITH LONGER TOOL LIFE
Kyocera's High-Rigidity Helical Shell Mill

The ME90 delivers stable, long-tool-life machining in titanium alloys and other difficult-to-machine materials. A high-rigidity differential-screw toolholder minimizes deflection, special arc-land insert geometry keeps cutting-edge temperatures down, and the new PM335S grade resists chipping. From aerospace structural components to heat-resistant alloy parts, the ME90 is built to keep your spindle running and your edges intact.

ME90 Helical Shell Mill Lineup

Rigidity + Stability

Titanium machining brings excessive vibration and fluctuating cutting loads that chip cutting edges. The ME90 counters this with a differential-screw clamping design that preserves cutter body wall thickness, reducing toolholder deflection by 18% and suppressing chatter even in long-overhang applications.

Tool Life + Economy

Heat concentrated at the cutting edge and serrated chip formation shorten tool life in titanium. The ME90’s arc-land geometry and PM335S grade lower edge temperature and stress for up to 2X longer tool life, while double-sided peripheral inserts with 8 cutting edges keep cost per edge low.

1.3X STRONGER HOLDER DESIGN

The ME90’s differential screw is over 1.3X stronger than conventional designs. It preserves cutter body wall thickness, reducing deflection by 18% for stable machining in long-overhang setups.

Special Arc-Land Geometry for Longer Tool Life

Newly developed arc-land geometry provides an optimal balance of low cutting forces and cutting-edge strength.

Special Arc-Land Geometry for Longer Tool Life

Longer Tool Life

Special arc-land geometry balances low cutting force with edge strength for 1.5X longer tool life compared to competitor inserts in titanium

Case Study

Competitor inserts experienced sudden chipping due to chip packing.

ME90 (PM335S) maintained a stable cutting edge and continued machining for more than twice as long.
